Away from the beach and mud flats is the Cuxhaven coastal heath.
It is one of the largest heath areas in northern Germany.
Hikers and cyclists experience quiet and relaxing hours in nature, not only when the heather is in bloom. Here you will find a well signposted network of paths, nature trails with information boards and observation platforms.
Heck cattle, wild horses and bison help to preserve this landscape by preventing bush encroachment. Dwarf shrubs, heather, crowberry and cotton grass can assert themselves in this landscape.
Hikers park best at the hikers’ car park on Holter Strasse.
